TAX TIME SAVINGS

Author: We are certain that a majority of Taxpayers ITEMIZING for the 2010 tax year are digging through their junk drawers, stuffed folders and their home filing system gathering the all important paperwork needed to itemized and hope for a hefty refund. If this is your first year ITEMIZING, we recommend that you first gather and organize your documents into categories before you start processing your online tax filing with QuickBooks or any E-File tax software:
1. Social Security numbers of your entire household
2. Collect and Verify all your INCOME Statements (W-2′s, 1099R, 1099MISC, 1099G, Social Security Benefits, etc)
3. Collect all bank, credit unions, investment INTEREST and DIVIDENDS Statements.
4. Mortgage Interest Statement
5. Real Estate Property Tax
OTHER DEDUCTIONS:
6. Medical Insurance Premium Paid
7. Medical expenses (Doctors, Hospitals, Clinics) you paid out of pocket – not covered by insurance
8. Dental expenses you paid out of pocket – not covered by insurance
9. Charitable Donations (Cash and Non-Cash)
OTHER CREDITS you can possibly take:
10. Education Credits
11. Residential Energy Credit
12. Business Expenses
13. First Time Homeowners Credit

A Greener Home

3. Wash clothes in cold water you’ll save as much as 500 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
4. Replace incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient compact fluorescent.
5. Install solar panels atop your roof.
6. Install outside solar lighting.
7. Unplug every power cord such as small appliances not in use.
8. Turn off lights in rooms not in use.
Its’ the little things we could do that contributes to a greener home and eco-friendly environment. Try it!
